Hi Team,

Please take a moment and review Whizbang Films, “The Yard.”

The series will be 6 x 30 and will air on HBO Canada.  This is a mock-umentary about a gang rivalry and power struggle to hold power over the school yard.

Synopsis:

t’s a tough world out there: corruption, greed, violence, seduction and betrayal—and that’s just recess.

Starring: Quintin Colantoni, Keana Bastidas, Sarah Cranmer, Daniel Lupetina.

Eleven-year-old Nick and his crew: idealistic younger brother J.J. – the brains of the outfit, weird pal Johnny – his lieutenant, big girl Suzi – the muscle, and their six-year-old sidekick Adam, jockey for school yard supremacy with the bully Frankie and his henchmen as a film crew documents the proceedings. Nick stepped in to end their reign of terror and restore the natural order – but it’s tough staying on top – and Frankie will stop at nothing to regain power. The rival gangs make their own rules in a skewed world that reflects and refracts the reality we live in. The Yard is the world in microcosm, run by and for the kids; it is a funny fast paced Goodfellas in a school playground with a Romeo and Juliet twist.

FORECASTS NEEDED: (1) Pearl Jam Twenty & (2) With Great Power – The Stan Lee Story

As discussed, please view the information below regarding the two documentaries we are considering, “Pearl Jam Twenty” and “With Great Power – The Stan Lee Story.”  The Shine International Forecast Google Doc has been updated for your input.  With MIP just around the corner, your forecasts MUST BE IN within the next 24 hours.  Please take a moment to review the information and update the Google doc with your forecasts.  As a reminder, there are no U.S. domestic networks attached to these projects as of yet.  They are both debuting at the SXSW film festival this week in Austin, TX.

1) Pearl Jam Twenty

Recently, we have had the pleasure of viewing the new Cameron Crowe documentary, “Pearl Jam Twenty.” The title is reminiscent on their famous album Ten and celebrates their 20th anniversary together. Crowe obtained access to all footage taken from before their conception to present.  The audience gets an incredibly in depth view of the physical and emotional journey that shaped Pearl Jam’s music and evolution.  We are presented with never before seen footage of Mother Love Bone and watch Eddie Vedder take his place in history as one of the most influential grunge rock stars worldwide.  The documentary takes you front seat as you tour from back ally dive gigs to international tours for over hundreds of thousands. All the while experiencing great editing and an amazing score.  All in all, this is more than a career documentary.  Better classified as a socio-polical and historical rush that will, at times, send that hair raising tingle up your spine.

2) With Great Power – The Stan Lee Story

“With Great Power – The Stan Lee Story” is a documentary produced by  Terry Dougas of 1821 Pictures (Invention of Lying, Swing Vote) and Emerging Entertainment.  I watched the film last night and it’s a well done documentary on the life of Stan Lee and how the Marvel franchise was born.

Stan Lee is HUGE throughout the world, but I need your feedback on whether you think this can sell for high enough fees to make it worth our while.

Stan Lee’s name appears on more than one BILLION comics, in 75 countries, in 25 languages. Arguably the most recognized name in comics, Lee has co-created over 500 legendary pop culture characters including SPIDER-MAN, IRON MAN, X-MEN, FANTASTIC FOUR, THOR, AVENGERS, DAREDEVIL, and HULK.  Lee continues to create new material and entertain the masses.

WITH GREAT POWER – THE STAN LEE STORY is a feature length documentary exploring the vivid life and imagination of Stan Lee from his depression era upbringing though the Marvel Age of comics and beyond! The film uncovers original footage, photographs, documents and stories of Lee’s fascinating journey from his early years at Timely Comics, his service in WWII, the rise of the Marvel bullpen, the comic book industry’s censorship battle of the 1950’s through the dawn and explosion of Lee’s legendary co-creations.

The story is told through the words of Lee himself as well as numerous interviews with comic book creators, actors, film producers, family and friends. It paints a portrait of a man whose creativity knows no bounds and whose characters have grown from humble beginnings to powerhouse properties in all media including film, television, video games, cartoons and beyond.

As discussed, please check this out on the new content site and fill in your projections by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 21st.

It is 6×60 and counts down the best pranks ever recorded on TV.  Just as with Undateable, all TV Rights are cleared for 3 years, but Internet/Wireless rights are not cleared so please take this into account when providing your projections.

Truck Stop / Leftfield Pictures / Travel Channel

Hey Team,

Please check out the link to the “Truck Stop” sizzle below to discuss in tomorrow’s new content meeting.

Travel is ordering a pilot and will quickly go to a series order of 12×30 is all goes well.  Leftfield will retain international.

The budget is $240k/ep.  Travel will put in $165/ep leaving a $75k/ep deficit.  Leftfield’s initial ask from SI would be $25-30k/ep advance, but of course that is negotiable.
